Wei Fusheng, male, Han ethnicity, was born in November 1938 and is from Jianyang, Sichuan Province.

After graduated from the Chemistry Department of University of Science and Technology of China in 1964, he served as a lecturer in the university.

In 1985, he started his career in the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre, and successively held the posts of Deputy Director General, Chief Engineer and researcher. During the period, he was also appointed Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Chairman of the Specialized Committee of National Environmental Monitoring, and was elected as a member of the 10th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

In 1997, he was elected as an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Since 1974, he started his studies on the analytical methods of environmental pollutants.

In 1985, he took the lead in the research, verification, unification and standardization of monitoring and analytical methods across the country, and made internationally advanced scientific research achievements. Over the past 10 years, he has undertaken a number of joint research projects. He twice won second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, twice second prizes and a third price of science and technology at the ministerial level, with more than 10 monographs compiled, and over 170 papers published in academic journals both at home and abroad. His main research include environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring technology, environmental pollution and health, etc.
